Account Conversion occurs when a creditor acquires a portfolio of existing accounts. They may assign new account numbers, but first they have to find out which CCA is handling each DMP. This information is not usually ported in a portfolio transfer, and the two steps below help them match their accounts to the right agency.
When claiming your agency's accounts during an account conversion, be sure to claim accounts within the Program Start and End Dates specified by the Creditor. To complete an account conversion on Peregrin, agencies should follow these two steps on Peregrin:
STEP 1. Use the Account Conversion tool to match your agency to accounts, sometimes receiving a new account number for matches.
STEP 2. Then, transfer matched accounts to your agency using the Transfer Requests tool.
Navigate to the Administration/Tools page. You will see tabs for Account Conversion and Transfer Requests. Please be sure to first use the Account Conversion tool, then the Transfer Requests tool to claim accounts. To correctly claim accounts, it must be done in that two-step order.
